Our Story

     Since 1993, Awesome Education has been dedicated to changing early childhood education. Our main teaching philosophy draws inspiration from the Reggio Emilia approach. Through the combination of our curriculum and hands-on materials, we inject new life and meaning into learning. With the teachers’ support and guidance your child will integrate their knowledge and create an interpretation of the world around them. 

     In Awesome’s methodology, teachers operate as students’ companions and expose them to a wide range of educational opportunities. Instead of giving the children the standard answer, children are encouraged to explore and be curious, leading them to build new concepts through thinking, imagining and comparing. The solutions derive from the spirit of exploration and the children’s own ideas work to develop their intelligence. At Awesome, we provide an open environment to stimulate the children to generate their own ideas, while we advise and assist them when they encounter challenges. We strive to learn and grow with the children by keeping an open mind and observing what they do. We provide rich materials and experiences to help them learn in this novel way.

     The Awesome English education system combines the ideas of expert Taiwanese educators and teachers who are on the cutting edge of educational research methodology. Our team wrote the specially designed and proprietary topical learning curriculum, which meets Reggio Emilia criteria for preschool children. Every teacher at Awesome is a collaborator, listener and companion to their students. Our teachers have both a passion for teaching and a respect and concern for their students. Children become comfortable in the open environment and learn to develop concentration and self-expression skills. They keep their unique personalities and creativity on their learning journey. Curriculum and Methodology

     At Awesome English Preschool, we apply a topic-based curriculum. The curriculum for each week is an independent topic that allows the children to gain exposure to new and wonderful experiences. In addition to the six developmental domains of a growing child (motor, cognitive, language, social, emotional and aesthetic) we have also added science and cooking into our curriculum. This helps the children explore the beauty of nature through direct interaction. For example, to explore the topic of spring, we not only take our children to observe the change of the seasons firsthand, but also teach them how to draw and record their observations in their spring daily books. How does a leaf change in different seasons and why? What weather and food changes occur during each season? How do changes in temperature affect our environment? These interesting phenomena are all recorded in our spring daily books. In addition to this, we make a self-watering system with our students and plant our own crops. We explore the influences of different water sources on the plants’ growth. All in all, we bring observation and exploration into our daily lives and let the children take the leading role by sharing their thoughts, ideas and observations. 

Understanding Play

     At Awesome, play is one of the ways we learn. Plenty of hands-on opportunities help our children to understand new content directly, rather than being restricted by the pictures in textbooks. In our cooking course, the children learn both how to cook and about where our food comes from. We take our children through the whole process of cooking, from the source of food to turning it into delicious dishes. Where does our food come from? What are the essential elements necessary for plant growth? We explore these questions with our students by planting our own crops. In our school, each hands-on activity is both a learning experience and a team-building exercise. As we teach our children about teamwork, manners and collaboration, they also learn how to help people in need and how to thank the people who support us, like little helpers, teachers and cooks. We teach them the importance of teamwork and being thankful to everyone who has helped us. 

Outcome-Based Curriculum

     Instead of simply being bystanders, we would like to invite parents to be our partners and allies on the journey of childhood education. To include and engage parents, Awesome holds teaching activities and performances each semester. Parents are children’s indispensable allies and can participate actively in the child’s learning process. We strive for excellent communication with parents, to keep them continuously involved in the education of their child. To help foster this strong communication between teachers and parents, Awesome holds parent-teacher meetings every semester. We also encourage parents to accompany their children on their learning journey by participating in their performance and topic-based activities, which are held every semester.
